In 2023 I became increasingly interested in AI and how it will come to affect many aspects of life including cultural production. I earned an AI Strategy Certificate at eCornell and then engaged in the Information Warfare Certificate at the University of Arizona. While I’m still slowly working on that certificate in the spring of 2024 I published a peer-reviewed academic article in the Journal of Information Warfare titled “Beyond Deepfakes: Synthetic Motion Images and the Future of History”. The video below contains real and synthetic historical archival footage - if you look closely you can probably tell the differences but these models are progressing at such a fast rate that soon I believe they will be indistinguishable.
